For: RigShade for Android, with the M-VAVE Cube Baby electric guitar pedal Questions, problems, ideas: padillameng@users.noreply.github.com

What you need

  • An Android phone that supports USB OTG.
  • A USB OTG adapter or cable, to connect the pedal to the phone.
  • The M-VAVE Cube Baby pedal, electric guitar version.

Getting started

  1. Connect the pedal to the phone with the OTG adapter.
  2. Open RigShade.
  3. Android will ask whether to allow the app to use the USB device: tap Allow. Without that, the app cannot talk to the pedal.
  4. The chain appears on screen. Tap a block to open its editor and adjust the values.
  5. Switch blocks on and off from the chain, and watch the pedal follow.

The tuner

RigShade tunes with the pedal's own USB audio input, never with your phone's microphone. Play one string at a time and give it a second to settle. If there is no reading, check that the guitar is plugged into the pedal and that the volume on the instrument is up.

Presets and banks

You can save a tone you like, load it back later, and export or import your presets, so the phone becomes a notebook of your settings. Your saved configurations are kept on the phone itself.

Cabinet IR files

RigShade can import a cabinet IR from a .wav file and keep it with the rest of your tones, so you can take the same cabinet from one setup to the next.

Get the app

RigShade is distributed on Google Play. The store link will be published on this page as soon as the listing is public.

Common questions

Does RigShade need an internet connection?

No. The app has no network access at all, so it works with the phone offline.

Does it use my phone's microphone?

No. The tuner listens to the pedal's USB audio input, and the phone's microphone is not used. The privacy policy explains this in full.

Which pedals does it work with?

This release is for the M-VAVE Cube Baby, electric guitar version. Other models are not supported yet, and the website will say so here when that changes.

Where are my presets kept?

On your phone, in the app's own storage area: they are never uploaded anywhere. Uninstalling the app removes them, so export anything you want to keep first.

The app does not see the pedal.

  • Use a data-capable OTG adapter: charge-only adapters never work.
  • Unplug the pedal and plug it back in with the app open.
  • Accept the USB permission prompt from Android when it appears.
  • Some phones have USB OTG switched off in Settings; turn it on and try again.
  • If it still does not appear, try another cable or adapter.

The tuner shows no reading.

The tuner hears what arrives at the pedal's input, not the room. Check that the guitar is connected to the pedal, that the volume is up, and play one string clearly.
